Representing Victims of Accidental Injuries

Mayer Gordon has been an attorney since 1975. He devotes his practice to representing injury victims. Many of them have had automobile accidents, truck accidents or motorcycle accidents, as well as injuries from construction accidents and medical malpractice. He has been riding motorcycles since 1966. He currently owns a vintage 1974 Harley Superglide motorcycle and a 1999 Indian Chief motorcycle.

Mr. Gordon co-sponsored the 2004 Michigan Harleyfest. This is a charity based motorcycle ride, attended by motorcycle riders from Wayne, Oakland, St. Clair and Macomb Counties. This annual motorcycle ride and festival was held in Sterling Heights but attracted motorcycle riders from Michigan cities as far as Flint, Detroit, and Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti. Motorcycle riders also represented Michigan cities such as far as Grand Rapids and Lansing. This motorcycle festival occurred in the Summer of 2004 at Freedom Hill located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. After their motorcycle ride, a number of popular bands played to entertain the motorcycle riders and their passengers who also had an opportunity to eat, drink and visit motorcycle related vendors and mix with other motorcyclists on a glorious sun filled Michigan day. Mr. Gordon has represented hundreds of motorcycle accident victims and was present to render tips on law and insurance for motorcycle riders.

In August 2004, Mayer Gordon also co-sponsored the newer and smaller, MamonRide, motorcycle ride and festival which was held near Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan. This ride also attracts riders from all over southeastern Michigan and benefits charity.

The leading cause of accidental death or serious injury in children below the age of 18 is head injury. Motorcycle and bicycle helmets go a long way to minimize or eliminate closed head injuries to bicyclists and motorcycle riders. Young riders need to adopt good safety habits now while riding bicycles to avoid serious injury or death and to allow them to maintain safe riding habits when they reach adulthood and may choose to ride motorcycles. In Spring, 2000, while on the executive board of the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, Mr. Gordon spearheaded the bicycle helmet campaign. He obtained donations from various lawyers, law firms and businesses to purchase bike helmets for needy children in Michigan. He personally assisted in distributing these helmets, and sizing them on the children.
